Book Review 'The Irresistible Church' by Wayne Cordeiro

In his new book 'The Irresistible Church', Wayne Cordeiro pulls back the curtain on his more than 25 years of ministry experience and helps us to understand what it takes to be the kind of church that heaven applauds.  In light of the incredible success he has had in establishing New Hope Oahu and in planting over 100 other churches, one might assume that this book is about attractional programming strategies and proven church growth engines that make church appealing or irresistible to people.  One would be wrong.

Instead, Cordeiro writes about what makes a church irresistible to heaven and one that God can't help but bless.  He writes from his expertise and from his years of experience, but what ends up being revealed in the words that spill off the page is a heart as big as Hawaii...a heart that beats for churches all around the world.

With an easy style that is both disarming and compelling, he challenges leadership to lead their churches to hunger for God's presence, understand their identity as the bride of Christ, monitor and encourage relational health and walk in humility in order to be the kind of church that both God and people will be drawn to.  He outlines twelve traits in all covering everything from practicing gratefulness to having a compelling vision or plan that moves the church to action.  No gimmicks or staffing strategies or slick programming - just practical characteristics that any church can develop in order to become irresistible.

Not only is this book a great read, but Cordeiro has also created a fantastic tool for anyone who is part of a church, whether they are in leadership or not, to implement and begin to transform their church into one that heaven applauds.
