The title itself was intriguing enough for me to want to read this book. I had conjured up all kinds of theories about what the pages might contain. Every indication was that espionage and thrilling spy drama could be waiting in each chapter.

Instead, I found a story about a boy on the difficult journey to manhood and the obstacles and challenges he faced along the way…and I was not disappointed. I can read espionage any time. This is not just any story. It is one that is frank, forthright and fearlessly told.

Ian Morgan Cron recalls the memories of his growing up years in such a way that they pull you in and make you feel like a part of the narrative.   His sharp wit and humourous descriptors will have you laughing out loud and then, out of nowhere a poignant thought or observation will cause your eyes to well up with tears.

His is a story of longing...longing for the love of an alcoholic father...longing for a real and genuine experience with God...and achieving neither until one day staring into the abyss of his own alcoholism, he comes to grips with the facts that his narcissistic father could never have properly expressed his love and His loving God had always cared about him, even when he thought Christ had let him down.

Don't pick this book up unless you're willing to take the time to read it through to the end. It's that good!
